| New York City has a long and important history. From Wall Street to the Brooklyn Bridge to the Empire State Building, New York City is the epicenter of the “New World”. The name "New York City" was actually adapted from the Duke of York and was named the new capitol of the United States in 1783. NYC began to come to the forefront as an economic power in the 1800s. During the 1900s, New York City began to expand, horizontally and vertically! The five boroughs include Manhattan, were the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and World Trade Center helped to mold the NYC skyline into the most famous in the world. |
